My name is Karen and I live in Northern California. I work in HR for a large nonprofit. I enjoy my work (most days) although both myself and my two staff are in our 50s….and three menopausal women in the same department can make life interesting! I am divorced, and live alone in a one bedroom apartment. I love living alone, as this is the first time I have lived alone since…well….ever! My divorce was final in October 2010 and quite frankly, the thought of dating again terrifies me! I’m not sure I EVER want to be married again. I don’t seem to be very good at it, as this was my third marriage … *sighs*.

Hi, I am in my 50s as well and live alone ( with my cat) and I adore it. I did live with someone for 12 yrs until 2001 and it was ghastly. Now I don’t feel the need to have a partner at all.
No, living alone you can do what you like, when you like and most importantly….if you like and there’s no one to answer too.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting! I do hope you’ll be back. I really enjoy interaction with my readers. I stopped by your blog briefly and will be back to read more. I am intrigued by what I saw. I am so glad you have a cat. I wish I could have a cat but alas my apartment does not allow pets. 
My divorce was final November 2010, and I’m now living in SoCal after having been an East coaster all my life. I don’t think of myself as a midlifer . . . just a lifer going through major transition, as seems to happen every so often. This is life, and if I’m lucky it happens I might only be halfway through it. That would be quite the blessing, wouldn’t it?!
Wow lots of changes in your life recently — not only a divorce, but a huge move. Good for you, sounds like you’re dealing with things well. And yes, being only halfway thru my life at age 53 would be quite amazing!
